The Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth welcome others to participate in the Mission of Boundless Charity as Lay Volunteers. A variety of short term volunteer service opportunities are available.

Types of Service

Hospital or Clinic – Medical or Pastoral Ministry to the sick

Nursing Home – Ministry to the elderly

Elementary and High School Education


 

Adult Literacy – Teaching English as a Second Language – no knowledge of Spanish is necessary.

Outreach to Homeless

Social Services to the Poor

Hispanic Ministry

Retreat Work

Parish Work

Places of Service
New Jersey, West Virginia, Mississippi, Texas, Virgin Islands, Mexico, and El Salvador.

Lengths of Service
Length of service is designed in a variety of ways that would best coincide with your life. As an individual volunteer you can choose:

to serve on a consistent basis – a specific number of days a week or every month;


 

to serve on a consistent basis for a specific time period – an hour or two, mornings, afternoons, evenings - instead of a whole day, each week or month;

to serve for a weekend every few months;

for as long as you determine you are available and able to serve.

Volunteer Service Projects and Trips


 
Specific service projects are planned during the year. These are for small groups of volunteers interested in a weekend or weeklong service project. These are advertised on the Sisters of Charity Website, in local parishes, newspapers, and at local colleges and universities.

Requirements
  Must be 18 years of age
Have Health Insurance
Be in good physical and mental health
Have a desire to be of service
Christian background and motivation
Completion of Application process

Interview

Skills applicable to ministry needs

Willingness to work with the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth

Openness to prayer and community with other ministers
