Elizabeth Ann Seton, a widow with five children and a new congregation of sisters in Emmitsburg, found time to take time for prayer. Even so, one may wonder whether in gathering up the shells, she was pondering their possible use in a classroom project! We, Sisters of Charity, have long named this "Mission Spirituality", the meeting of interior and exterior worlds, of hearts and hands open to the presence of God's word and call. The Sister of Charity "works in the world and prays in the idioms of its work."

Each of us is called to identify our spiritual identity within the "thinking of Christ and the search for Christ" in community." We hope to make this section one of sharing and exploration of the spirituality in all our lives that is fueled by service and the dedication to prayer and reflection.
