The Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth emblem contains the pelican, the ancient symbol of divine love. The pelican is shown feeding its young from its own essence, symbolizing the spirit of sacrifice and love for others. The outstretched wings are a sign of the all – embracing love of the Sisters of Charity reaching out to the world.

Under the leadership of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, Academy of Saint Aloysius, a Catholic institution, has instilled high moral values in its young women for over 135 years.

They believe that the education of each student requires the development of a social awareness of local, national and global needs, as well as recognition of each one's responsibilities as part of these communities. This belief helps to foster active citizenship that will continue on through life.

The Academy provides experiences that serve to nurture the faith and religious beliefs of all of its students. Throughout the year, all students and faculty gather together to celebrate liturgies and prayer services. Each grade level participates in a retreat. Social awareness is fostered through various outreach projects to the community and through volunteer service. All students are invited to actively participate in the building of the faith community that is the Academy of Saint Aloysius. They celebrate the gift of cultural diversity, and the value of different religious beliefs.

In summary, their young women are aware of the plight of the poor and the suffering of the sick, oppressed and lonely. With that knowledge, they enter the world with sensitivity to the needs of our global community.
